A new therapeutic book aimed at children impacted by war has been released in Odessa. Titled «War Through a Child's Eyes», it serves as a vital psychological support tool grounded in the real experiences of Ukrainian families.
This book gives voice to young ones living in the shadows of conflict. «War Through a Child's Eyes» is more than just a story — it’s an essential conversation that, while difficult to initiate, must be had. It’s a journey through fear and pain toward hope. Authored by Olya Grytsyk, a psychologist and mother of three, this book emerges from real maternal fears and a desire to heal.
The narrative follows Vladik, the youngest of three siblings forced to leave their home due to the war. Yet, this story resonates with countless Ukrainian families. It captures the voice of every child who has asked, «Where is our home now?»
This is not fiction — it’s lived experience.
This is not merely a plot — it’s reality.
This is not just words — it’s support woven into each page. «War Through a Child's Eyes» is a healing book. A story where every child can see themselves, the author shared.
The book consists of 35 chapters, each gently incorporating therapeutic techniques such as art therapy, NLP, metaphorical imagery, and breathing practices. These techniques are presented so naturally that as children read, they heal, often unaware of their fears dissolving within the words.
Psychologist Tetiana Zbrischak, a specialist in trauma from war, contributed to the book's creation, helping to ensure the text's therapeutic quality, depth, and inner strength. Her voice narrates the audiobook, allowing mothers to listen alongside their children, touching on important yet silent topics.
Don’t scold children for «not listening». They are hurting. They hold anxiety within. By reading or listening to this book, a child stabilizes. Their behavior, attention, and learning begin to improve, Tetiana explains.
