Workers from the Municipal Enterprise «Service Center» diligently clean nearly two kilometers of shoreline around the ponds at Victory Dendropark in Odessa every day.
They conduct a variety of tasks to maintain order in the ponds and their surroundings.
Regular cleaning of the water surface from fallen leaves and debris, sweeping the adjacent walkways, mowing grass in sanitary zones, repairing and painting landscape elements, and cleaning drainage systems are part of their routine.
The history of the ponds dates back to 1960 when a concrete pond was created, which later evolved into a system of four artificial lakes. The depth of these ponds ranges from 0.8 to 1.7 meters.
Today, the ponds are part of a hydraulic complex that includes waterfalls, which not only enhance the area but also prevent water stagnation. Experts periodically introduce chlorella into the ponds to purify the water, improving its quality.
The fountain at the ponds operates automatically from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with evening illumination adding charm from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The «Fairy Pond Light Show» project was implemented thanks to the Public Budget of Odessa in 2017.
Since 2020, a grotto has adorned the ponds, becoming a popular photo spot. The idea came from the mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, who transformed a technical node into a recreational area.
During the spring and summer, swans can be seen at the ponds, while in winter, the birds migrate to the Odessa Zoo.
Wild ducks and turtles inhabit the ponds, with the turtles hibernating in winter. The fish living here thrive, thanks to the efforts of the municipal enterprise, which makes holes in the ice for oxygen supply.
The hydraulic structure is a vital component of Victory Dendropark, offering picturesque views and a variety of activities for visitors of all ages.
