President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Ukrainian people from Independence Square, stressing that every symbol here represents our nation's freedom.

In his message to the nation on Independence Day, he stated: «We are striving to build a Ukraine where everyone can live in peace and security. May our children celebrate this day under our flags, on our land, in peace and tranquility, with confidence in the future and respect for all who defended our country».

Zelensky emphasized that this is worth living for. «This is what we stand for», he said.

He highlighted that Ukraine will never again be forced into shame, as others may suggest.

«We need a just peace. Only we can decide what our future will be, and the world recognizes this. It respects Ukraine as an equal partner», the President emphasized.

He noted that just a week ago he represented Ukraine in the United States.

«Today, both the U.S. and Europe agree: Ukraine has not yet won, but it certainly will not lose. We have earned our independence. Ukraine is a fighter, not a victim. We offer alliance and partnership, the best army in Europe, advanced defense technologies, and resilience experience», he declared.

He assured that Ukraine will achieve sustainable and lasting peace.

«We will attain this peace because we will receive security guarantees that are strong enough to deter any thoughts of attacking Ukraine. This is not only our goal; it is what we want to pass on to our children: a strong, equal, European, independent Ukraine», he concluded.

Remember, on August 24, Ukraine celebrates the 34th anniversary of independence, established by the Ukrainian Parliament on August 24, 1991. This year, the national holiday is marked under the conditions of a full-scale war initiated by Russia against the Ukrainian people.
