The municipal enterprise «City Roads» in Odesa is actively involved in maintaining the drainage systems to ensure they function properly.
Currently, workers are focused on the Romanian canal. Previous work was carried out on the Kuyalnik and Shchelaki canals, as well as at the Buffer pond.
The Buffer pond, Romanian canal, and Kuyalnik canals serve as crucial hydraulic structures for diverting rainwater and meltwater from urban areas.
Using specialized equipment, workers clear the channels and pond of vegetation, debris, and silt. Special attention is given to cleaning the most clogged areas, particularly where runoff from private homes is located.
Regular maintenance is also performed for storm drains and sewer collectors throughout the city. Heavy machinery is used for these tasks, including excavators, graders, and a high-pressure hydraulic unit based on a MAN truck for flushing bypass pipes. In case of heavy rainfall, such work is conducted on an emergency basis.
