The rehabilitation department of City Hospital No. 8 in Odesa is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The service's journey began in 2015 when the first rehabilitation beds were established based on one of the hospital's therapeutic wards. Over time, a separate building was renovated, and advanced equipment was acquired, transforming the department into a dedicated rehabilitation unit.
This department offers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, focusing on musculoskeletal disorders, neurological diseases, and post-stroke recovery.
In the first nine months of this year, the hospital provided nearly 500 outpatient rehabilitation services, with over 200 patients undergoing inpatient rehabilitation. All services are free under the state medical guarantee program and require a referral from a family or specialist doctor.
The department continuously evolves, integrating modern rehabilitation equipment. This year, with the support of the city authorities, the hospital has received new devices, including an automatic treadmill with support, machines for passive limb development, and stair-climbing simulators.
Hospital specialists regularly enhance their skills through participation in scientific conferences, seminars, and rehabilitation training. The department also collaborates with the Odesa National Medical University to train resident doctors in physical and rehabilitation medicine.
Modern equipment and the implementation of innovative technologies empower City Hospital No. 8 to provide effective rehabilitation assistance. This is especially crucial now amid the ongoing war, as the demand for medical rehabilitation for Ukraine's defenders has increased.
