Days of Japanese Culture are being held in Odesa, marking the 60th anniversary of the partnership with Yokohama, Japan. 

The program titled “Japan – Land of the Rising Sun” includes artistic and educational events. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, art lessons, workshops, exhibitions, animation screenings, and tea ceremonies to explore Japanese traditions. 

Main activities will kick off on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Passage, 1a). 

Attendees will be able to discover the richness of Japanese culture and the development of friendly relations between cities and countries. 

“Our connection with Yokohama is a story of how cities can be close in spirit despite distance, language differences, and cultural diversity,” emphasized Odesa’s mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov. 

Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an exhibition titled “Mysterious Japan Through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists” will be held in the lobby of the Odesa City Hall (Birzhevaya Square, 1). 

This event is organized with the support of the Art and Graphic Department of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushinsky and the Municipal Institution “City Art Gallery.”
