At the ongoing World Short Course Swimming Championships in Budapest, Ukrainian swimmer Vadim Naumenko from the 'Dynamo' sports school has made headlines by reaching the semifinals.

He set a new national record in the 200 meters individual medley qualifying round, finishing with a time of 1:55.35 minutes.

Under the guidance of coaches Oleksandra Kurbanova and Vadim Penyazenko, Vadim improved his previous record established at the European Championships in Romania in 2023.

The 21-year-old from Odesa also completed the 100 meters individual medley today in 53.07 seconds, securing the 14th overall time to qualify for the semifinals.

Additionally, he broke the long-standing national record set by Oleg Lisogor at the European Championships in Trieste on December 11, 2005.

The semifinals are scheduled for this evening, December 12.
