On November 10, 2024, the open cup of the Odesa regional organization of the FST «Ukraine» took place at the sports hall of the Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports School No. 5.

The event was dedicated to the memory of the remarkable Odesa sports figure, Mykola Barabash, who significantly contributed to the development of physical culture in Ukraine.

This tournament, held in Odesa for the second time, turned into a true celebration for young badminton enthusiasts.

A total of 22 participants competed in the tournament.

The competition was conducted in the «mixed» category: a mixed pair consisting of a boy and a girl.

The winners among juniors were:

1st place - Mykola Cherniyenko / Veronika Simova;

2nd place - Lev Talpa / Daria Popova;

3rd place - Mykola Tsvetus / Anastasia Savitska.

The standings among boys were as follows:

1st place - Pavlo Vasilyo / Daria Boris;

2nd place - Tymofiy Glushin / Vladislava Kimlyk;

3rd place - Serhiy Mukhin / Olena Morozova.

The athletes were coached by trainers Volodymyr Bilous, Daria Sibiryakova, and Valeriy Karpov.

Mykola Martynovych Barabash was a distinguished specialist in physical culture and sports, having trained numerous athletes who proudly represent our country at both national and international competitions.

Mykola Barabash served as the vice president of the Badminton Federation of Ukraine, was a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, and led the Odesa regional organization of the physical culture and sports society «Ukraine» for 30 years.

His organizing talent has been recognized with awards from both the European and World Badminton Federations.
