Ukrainian athlete Vadim Kravchuk earned a silver medal at the continental tour events held in Kosice, marking his first appearance since the team championship of Ukraine.

At the previous championship, Kravchuk secured third place in the high jump, finishing behind Dmitry Nikitin and Vladislav Lavsky, who took the first and second positions respectively.

In Kosice, Kravchuk faced Vladislav Lavsky among his competitors, marking Lavsky's first international appearance in 2025. The event featured renowned athletes, including silver medalist from Euro-2022 Tobias Potier and Jan Steffela, who also earned silver at this year's indoor Euro championships.

How did the high jump competition unfold in Kosice?

  • Lavsky was eliminated after failing to clear 2.21 m in three attempts. In contrast, Kravchuk continued and successfully cleared this height on his second attempt.
  • The height of 2.25 m proved crucial in determining the medalists. Both Kravchuk and Czech athlete Steffela cleared this height on their third attempt, while other jumpers, including Rivera, Fassinotti, Potier, and Bulgarian Tihomir Ivanov, were unsuccessful.
  • Kravchuk's battle for gold ended in defeat against Steffela, who cleared 2.28 m on his first attempt. After two failed attempts, Kravchuk raised the bar to 2.31 m but also failed to clear it.
  • Clearing 2.25 meters marked a seasonal personal best for Kravchuk, as he had previously cleared this height twice: in June 2021 in Kyiv and in January 2024 in Germany.
