The city of Odesa hosted a martial arts festival titled "UNYIELDING," dedicated to the memory of Ukraine's fallen heroes.
This festival is held several times a year in Odesa, with each event honoring specific soldiers who have lost their lives in the fight for freedom. Parents of the fallen, veterans, and representatives from combat federations participate, uniting everyone around a common goal.
“Events like this are essential — for our Motherland and for ourselves. It is our duty to remember those who gave their lives for Ukraine,” emphasized festival organizer Denis Zharkov, head of the NGO “This Matters.”
Volodymyr Yermakov, head of the city's Department of Veterans Affairs, highlighted the importance of cultivating a culture of remembrance in society: “We need to change our approach to honoring the fallen — to establish a true culture of memory. This is vital for those who have endured the horrors of war, for the parents of the fallen, and for our society as a whole. Memory is our strength and our responsibility.”
The festival featured representatives from various sports organizations. European and world champions showcased their skills in traditional Japanese martial arts, MMA, boxing, and adaptive jiu-jitsu.
The event was organized in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs of the Odesa City Council.
