Telecom operators are now permitted to reserve construction crews involved in establishing resilient internet networks using the xPON technology. This initiative ensures that Ukrainians stay connected, while critical enterprises continue their operations smoothly. Providing reliable internet access is crucial in frontline and border areas.
Following discussions with operators, providers, and relevant associations, the Ministry of Digital Transformation proposed amendments to resolution No. 76, which were approved by the government.
To reserve construction workers, a company must:
– be listed by the Ministry as a critical enterprise involved in building xPON networks;
– have plans for xPON network construction for at least the next calendar year.
Mobile operators will also be able to reserve teams to build energy-resilient networks on highways and national roads.
The reservation of construction crews will be done through the Diia app, similar to the emergency restoration reservations. The Ministry will compile a list of these enterprises, and the conditions for inclusion are currently being worked out. If a provider or operator fails to meet construction plans, they will be removed from the list, and the reservation of workers will be canceled.
The purpose of reserving specialists is:
– state institutions and enterprises crucial for the economy will operate without delays;
– an additional 1 million families will gain access to stable internet, allowing them to utilize government services and stay connected with loved ones;
– improved conditions for remote learning for students.
Building resilient telecom networks is not just about convenient internet access but also about national security. The enemy seeks to sever our connections, and the state is committed to ensuring connectivity remains strong no matter the circumstances. Developing energy-independent networks is a key point in the strategy for electronic communications development by 2030.
We continue to work to ensure that Ukrainians can always stay connected, wherever they may be.
