The senior police lieutenant began his service in 2015, consciously choosing this profession, inspired by his older brother who also serves in the police.
Over ten years, Eduard worked in various police divisions, including security and criminal investigations. The full-scale invasion caught him serving as an investigator in the Odessa regional police department.
«I remember how the situation in the city escalated from the first days. Our work focused on detecting and apprehending sabotage groups and solving serious crimes. For example, once we detained a group of masked armed individuals attempting to smuggle weapons into a hotel in downtown Odessa. We acted quickly, or it could have ended in tragedy», he recalls.
In 2023, Eduard joined a consolidated police unit from Odessa, which was deployed to liberated Kherson, where he patrolled the city, identified enemy reconnaissance groups, and assisted in evacuating civilians.
«We often had to work under enemy fire. While we are used to it, it was still frightening, especially during the evacuation of large families», he shares.
The following year, Eduard decided to join the police shooting battalion, where he found his calling as a combat medic.
«Medicine intrigued me the most. It is now my tool for saving lives during war», he notes.
The 28-year-old operative underwent necessary training and became a combat medic for the consolidated police brigade. He also trains his comrades in tactical medicine, covering everything from theory to the evacuation of the wounded. Mastering medical procedures is crucial for survival in combat conditions.
When asked what this war means for him as a policeman, Eduard responds:
«This is service on a new frontier. A policeman always protects: once we caught criminals, now we hold back the enemy. The task remains unchanged - to be where I am needed most».
