As a result of enemy actions in Odesa on the night of June 28, a teacher and social worker from the local "Mykhailivskyi" lyceum, Kateryna Borsynska, and her husband Valentyn tragically lost their lives.

This heartbreaking news was reported by the mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and the colleagues of the deceased.

"Last night we lost our dear colleague, an extraordinary mentor for children, a kind-hearted person with a big heart, and a devoted educator, Kateryna Valentiivna Borsynska.

This is a tremendous loss for all who knew Kateryna Valentiivna: a responsible, honest, kind person; a professional and creative educator," – stated the Odesa lyceum "Mykhailivskyi".

Journalist Zoya Kazanzhi shared that shortly before the full-scale invasion, Kateryna and Valentyn welcomed a granddaughter, whom they "were able to enjoy for only three years".

"Together with her – her husband Valentyn. Two whose love and kindness should have continued to warm their loved ones for a long time. They moved from Kryvyi Rih to Odesa. I’m sorry we couldn’t protect them," – wrote Oleksandr Lonchak, the Director of the Department of Education and Science of Odesa Oblast.

Recall that on the night of Saturday, Russia launched a drone strike on a high-rise building in Odesa. The attack ignited fires on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors of the building, leaving local residents trapped in their apartments.

Rescuers retrieved the bodies of the couple from the rubble. As a result of the attack, 17 other individuals were injured, including three boys aged 3, 7, and 14. Three of the injured are in serious condition.
