Since the beginning of 2025, the company "Naftogaz" has imported around 800 million cubic meters of gas due to hostile shelling and a decrease in production.
This was reported by the acting chairman of Naftogaz, Roman Chumak, during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.
He stated that due to the shelling, part of the gas production was lost, and the priority now is to restore damaged facilities and resume production before the next heating season starts.
The group continues to import gas to offset losses and build sufficient reserves – about 800 million cubic meters of gas have been imported since the beginning of the year," the statement read.
Additionally, Naftogaz reported that work is ongoing with the government and international partners to seek funding for the necessary volumes of gas for the upcoming winter.
It is worth noting that Ukraine can import a record 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and depletion of reserves.
