Energy workers from Odesa have successfully restored the energy infrastructure in Kherson, which was damaged during Russian attacks in February. Thanks to their efforts, nearly 2,000 residents of the city have had their power restored.
This was reported by DTEK Odesa Electric Networks.
It is noted that a team of 26 specialists worked to repair the damaged infrastructure in Kherson due to shelling. The teams arrived in the city in mid-March.
“The frontline was located 3 to 10 kilometers away from the repair site. The energy workers had to work in bulletproof vests and helmets for safety and very quickly, as the enemy continues to shell Kherson from the left bank of the Dnipro,” the report states.
The specialists managed to restore three high-voltage lines and a substation to supply electricity primarily to water supply facilities, according to DTEK.
On April 4, 2025, Russian troops hit the Kherson CHPP with an FPV drone.
On the morning of April 1, 2025, another energy facility was damaged in Kherson. As a result of the Russian attack, 45,000 subscribers were left without electricity.
On March 27, Russian forces struck energy infrastructure in Kherson and Poltava, violating ceasefire agreements. Specifically, the Kremlin had previously agreed to halt attacks on energy facilities, but these strikes indicate a breach of those agreements.
President Zelensky stated that Ukraine will respond to such violations and called on the international community to take action against Russia.
