The educational system of Ukraine is undergoing significant transformations to meet current challenges and societal needs. A critical aspect is developing practical skills among students to ensure their safety and protection.
For this reason, the process of updating the course 'Defense of Ukraine' is ongoing.
At the initiative of the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council, a working meeting was held at Odessa Lyceum No. 1 named after A.P. Bystrina regarding the establishment and operation of teaching centers for the 'Defense of Ukraine' course in community-owned general secondary education institutions in Odessa.
Participants included: heads of educational institutions, teachers of the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject, representatives of public organizations, deputies of the Odessa City Council, and members of the Coordination Council for National-Patriotic Education under the Odessa Mayor.
During the meeting, issues regarding the establishment and functioning of teaching centers for 'Defense of Ukraine,' efficient use of available resources, and enhancement of organizational work in light of current challenges were discussed.
Attendees were introduced to recommendations for setting up these centers, developed by the project office 'Updating the Defense of Ukraine program,' supported by the 'Partnership for a Strong Ukraine' Fund, and the algorithm for establishing centers for teaching the 'Defense of Ukraine' course in educational institutions.
