The city clinical hospital No. 1 (Jewish Hospital) houses a state-of-the-art department specializing in minimally invasive and high-tech surgery. Located in the main building, which was extensively renovated with city budget funds, the department is equipped with the latest technology, and experienced surgeons utilize modern European protocols.
Each week, the staff performs over 40 surgical procedures, with 80% being minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. The department conducts surgical endoscopic interventions on abdominal organs, including the liver, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid gland, bladder, lungs, esophagus, uterus, and ovaries. Additionally, minor surgical procedures are performed via percutaneous puncture under ultrasound guidance.
Last year, more than 5400 surgeries and over 1500 endoscopic examinations were conducted, including: 873 trauma surgeries, 847 gynecological surgeries, 441 urological surgeries, 511 ENT surgeries, 311 thoracic surgeries, and 126 vascular surgeries.
Benefits of minimally invasive surgery:
- reduced trauma: smaller incisions lead to less bleeding and pain;
- quick recovery: patients typically return to their normal lives much faster than after traditional surgery;
- improved cosmetic results: smaller scars and a lower likelihood of complications.
