Two young offenders, aged 17 and 18, have been charged in a robbery case. They face potential long-term imprisonment.

The incident occurred in April when the pair spotted a stranger on the street and decided to follow him. In a deserted area, they attacked a 56-year-old man, inflicting injuries and stealing his mobile phone and other valuables. The total damage amounted to 2500 hryvnias.

The victim sought medical assistance, where doctors diagnosed him with a broken nose, bruises, and abrasions.

Law enforcement quickly identified the suspects, who had intended to sell the stolen phone and spend the money on themselves but did not succeed. The stolen property was recovered and returned to its owner.

The court has imposed a house arrest as a preventive measure during the investigation.

According to investigator Oleksandr Radiev, one of the suspects has reached the age of criminal responsibility. Both individuals are charged with assault with intent to steal, combined with violence. The maximum penalty for this crime can reach 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The indictment under part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has already been submitted to the court.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa.
