According to the Odessa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, last week, 2626 residents of Odessa were diagnosed with ARVI and flu, with 80.1% being children under 17. The incidence rate of ARVI and flu in Odessa is 50.3% below the epidemic threshold, indicating a low level of the epidemic process.
In the last week, four children under 17 were infected with COVID-19.
The incidence of acute intestinal infections decreased by 16.6% compared to the previous week, totaling 80 cases, with 63.7% being children.
Isolated cases of acute intestinal infections, viral hepatitis, and airborne infections were recorded. No cases of measles, diphtheria, rubella, or tetanus were reported.
As informed by specialists at the Disease Control and Prevention Center, there were nine cases of whooping cough last week—eight in children and one in an adult.
Healthcare professionals remind that to effectively protect against whooping cough, children should receive vaccinations at 2, 4, 6, and 18 months of age. The whooping cough component is usually included in combination vaccines that also protect against diphtheria and tetanus. Odessa’s municipal pediatric clinics have sufficient supplies of DTPa vaccines. Vaccination is free, and parents should contact their pediatrician with whom they have a declaration.
