New automated restrooms for people with disabilities are set to be introduced in Odesa. This initiative was discussed during a meeting of the Barrier-Free Council, chaired by Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

The Department of Urban Development has preliminarily studied the experience of implementing such facilities in Ukraine, particularly in the capital.

During the meeting, a module featuring two stalls was presented: one of which is spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair user or a mother with a stroller. The metal structure is corrosion-resistant and equipped with an automatic cleaning function, motion sensors for each feature, and an automatic unlocking system after 15 minutes. It also includes a call button for operators and a module for cashless payments.

The proposal to install these automatic restrooms at Soborna Square, in the City Garden, along Prymorsky Boulevard, and on the Avenue of Ukrainian Heroes will be submitted to the Odesa City Council.
