On the night of May 1, 2025, Odessa experienced a drone strike that damaged a residential building on Prince Yaroslav the Wise Avenue. Following expert assessments, the building has been deemed unsafe.

Currently, stabilization work is ongoing. Odessa's mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, held a meeting to inspect the progress of the recovery efforts.

«Since May 16, a heavy crane has been working at the site. Emergency response efforts are complete, and stabilization is underway. According to the plan, residents will be able to return to their apartments by June 10», — stated the mayor.

Regarding the second entrance, which was hit by the drone, a renovation project will be developed after stabilization work is completed. The budget for restoration will be determined based on the findings.

Marina Lozovenko, head of the Kyiv district administration, announced that residents will be offered compensation from the city budget for housing rent during this period.

Additionally, city council advisor Veronika Etnarovich informed that 156 apartments will receive financial aid of 10,800 UAH for each registered family member (totaling 355 individuals) from the NGO «Tenth of April» with support from Mercy Corps.
