The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, held a meeting to discuss ways to increase the energy independence of the local community.
During the meeting, participants visited apartment buildings equipped with rooftop solar power stations.
The city leader highlighted the effective operation of these stations, which are currently supplying electricity to residents.
Trukhanov also emphasized reducing reliance on external power grids; during outages, residents will always have access to electricity, and elevators, heating, and pumps will remain operational thanks to battery backup systems.
Additionally, each homeowners association can receive partial reimbursement for electricity expenses incurred by each apartment.
Currently, four homeowners associations have joined the city program for partial reimbursement of energy efficiency and independence measures, covering over 3,280 residents.
The expected reduction in electricity consumption in these buildings is projected to be 30%, significantly lowering household expenses and ensuring stable power supply even during blackouts.
The mayor also stressed the importance of continuing efforts toward the city's energy independence. Homeowners associations looking to transition to solar energy can take advantage of support programs that offer reimbursement of 70% to 100% of equipment costs.
This reimbursement is provided by the state Energy Efficiency Fund as part of the city support programs for homeowners associations.
