The emergency repairs on the main water pipeline in Odesa are coming to an end, after residents in three out of four districts were left without water supply. Water delivery is expected to resume today.

Key points:

  • The restoration work on the main water pipeline is nearing completion.
  • The accident was extremely challenging, occurring in a swampy area, necessitating drainage and filling.
  • As of 5 PM, municipal workers are preparing to start the pumps for testing.

Water is being restored to Odesa.

This was announced by Deputy Mayor Hanna Pozdnyakova.

According to her, the damage occurred in a difficult area — right in the field, in the swamp. To reach the site of the accident, a temporary road was constructed using 150 tons of sand and concrete slabs, a pit was dug, and work continued without breaks.

“The team is handling the situation heroically. They are preparing to launch the pumps and gradually increase pressure in the network. It’s a complex but controlled process,” Pozdnyakova assured.
