In Odessa, an audit of rented beach areas is underway to assess compliance with operational rules, sanitation standards, and ensure free access for all citizens.
Following the mayor's directive, a working group has been formed, consisting of representatives from the city administration, the Accessibility Council, and veterans.
The primary goal of the group is to evaluate the level of accessibility, inclusivity, and free entry to the beaches.
On August 22, the group inspected the beaches in the Kyiv district. Members of the working group assessed whether 30% of the rented area is available for public use; if there are illegal fences or structures obstructing access; whether sanitary norms are adhered to; if conditions for persons with disabilities are provided; and whether there is free passage along the water's edge and between beach areas.
During the inspection, violations were found, including the placement of sun loungers near the water, obstructing passage, and illegal temporary structures on the promenade. Renters received orders to immediately rectify the identified issues.
Based on the inspection results, a set of recommendations will be prepared to enhance beach accessibility for the upcoming recreation season.
