The city of Odesa is actively working to enhance the accessibility of public spaces, including the modernization of 'Otrada' beach.

On September 24, the Odesa City Council voted to allocate 1 million UAH for the development of project documentation for the renovation of the municipal 'Otrada' beach, located between buoys No. 6-b and No. 6-v.

The project's goal is to create a barrier-free and comfortable space for the recreation of individuals with limited mobility.

The renovation plans include: constructing an inclusive ramp for seamless access to the beach area; installing modular buildings for administrative and sanitary purposes, storage for watercraft, and inclusive restrooms; providing changing cabins, including inclusive options; and laying decking paths 1.4 m wide to areas designated for sun loungers and other amenities.

A particular focus will be on developing adaptive paddling. The beach area will feature storage for sporting equipment, including kayaks, thereby opening new opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage in water sports.

This project continues the efforts to foster a barrier-free environment, particularly in health and recreation areas. This year, an inclusive beach was opened at the 11th station of the Great Fountain following renovations.
