In Odesa, the project for a Memorial dedicated to fallen soldiers is currently in progress at one of the city’s cemeteries.

During a recent meeting with families of the fallen heroes and veteran organizations, three types of headstones were selected, each available in two variations.

Samples of materials for their construction, including granite and sandstone, were also presented. A broad discussion with the families of servicemen is planned ahead.

“The mayor’s stance is clear: the families of fallen heroes play a crucial role in this process - they will determine through voting which option best meets their expectations and memories of their loved ones,” emphasized Pavel Vugelman, the deputy mayor of Odesa.

In addition to memorial topics, social issues related to supporting families of the deceased were also discussed at the meeting.

The agenda included planning for events on Defender's Day in Ukraine, which will be celebrated on October 1.

Among the planned activities are memorial ceremonies, meetings with veterans, educational initiatives, and cultural events aimed at uniting the community around remembrance, gratitude, and shared responsibility.
