Since the beginning of 2025, Odesa has actively removed 1522 hazardous and dead trees and branches, many of which were downed by severe weather conditions.

The Department of Urban Management and the Department of Ecology and Recreational Zone Development are conducting a tree inventory. Based on these assessments, the municipal enterprise "Miskzelentrest" carries out the removal of hazardous trees.

Generally, tree removal is performed based on citizen requests, during adverse weather, or as part of targeted urban improvement programs.

Additionally, green space specialists are engaged in stump removal. Since the start of the year, 828 stumps have been extracted, and new trees are being planted in their place.

Stump removal is a complex and labor-intensive task. Until this year, municipal workers lacked specialized equipment for stump extraction, which made the process significantly more challenging. Currently, they are using new machinery – the Rotor Speedy 80/100 stump grinder and the KATA KF1404 tractor with 140 horsepower, which are designed for timely and efficient stump removal work.
With the new equipment, the green space specialists drastically reduce the time needed for these physically demanding tasks: previously, manual stump removal was planned for 12 hours, but now, extracting a stump with a diameter of 70 cm takes only 40 minutes.
