The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting with representatives of an international organization specializing in medical assistance.
In 2024, with the support of the International Medical Corps, renovation of the shelter at Maternity Hospital No. 5 was completed. This included upgrades to ventilation, water supply, heating, and drainage systems.
The shelter is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and a powerful oxygen concentrator for artificial lung ventilation.
Currently, all conditions have been created here for childbirth and providing medical care to mothers and newborns.
Additionally, the International Medical Corps renovated basement areas to establish a temporary shelter for residents of nearby buildings.
"I thank our partners for their assistance. On our part, we provided the maternity hospital with three powerful generators for backup power supply. This includes autonomous power for the shelter and the women’s clinic," emphasized Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Moreover, modern resuscitation equipment for the intensive care unit and a Class C ambulance were purchased using city budget funds.
Maternity Hospital No. 5 specializes in providing obstetric assistance for premature births and intensive therapy for newborns with extremely low birth weights starting from 500 grams.
