On May 18, 2025, the world celebrates International Museum Day, highlighting the significance of museums in preserving cultural heritage and education for over four decades.
More than 40 countries participated in the «Night of Museums», a European initiative that transforms museums into platforms for dialogue and artistic experiences.
This year, over 3,000 museums opened their doors late into the evening, offering visitors a variety of events from exhibitions to performances and night film screenings.
The 2025 theme is «The Future of Museums in Changing Communities», addressing the current challenges we face.
Despite the ongoing war, Ukrainian museums continue to operate, organizing exhibitions dedicated to the memory of the fallen and the preservation of national heritage.
The Odesa Municipal Museum of Personal Collections named after O.V. Bleschunov also participated in the «Night of Museums», presenting the exhibition «Connection» by artist Sofia Golubieva, which explores women's support in times of war.
«This is not just an exhibition about women’s experience; it’s an attempt to find a new language of closeness when old words no longer suffice,» said Sofia Golubieva.
The event included a lecture by the artist, where she shared her experience creating the project, focusing on art that emerges from loss and shared experiences of crisis.
On May 24 at 14:30, a painting masterclass titled «Figure in Water» will be held, open to all interested. Participants will explore how to depict a figure in water through light, shadows, and reflections.
The exhibition «Connection» will be open until June 8.
The museum is open Thursday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Address: Polish St, 19 (entrance from the courtyard).
