Alexander Volodymyrovich Bleschunov was a distinguished engineer and mountaineer, with a pass in Eastern Pamir and a peak at the confluence of the Garma and Vavilov glaciers named after him. Besides mountaineering, he devoted much of his life to collecting art pieces.
At the end of his life, he donated his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was opened in Odessa, which has been named after O. V. Bleschunov since 1992.
This unique collection contains over 10,000 items, including world-class rarities, and is part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. In recognition of Alexander Volodymyrovich Bleschunov's contributions to the city, his star was ceremoniously unveiled on the Walk of Stars in Odessa on September 2, 2019.
