This October, a conference titled «Friendship Days» is set to take place in Vienna, the capital of Austria, featuring the «Golden Violins of Odesa» festival on October 18.
This was discussed during a meeting between Odesa's mayor Gennady Trukhanov and Mr. Thomas Resh, a representative from the Vienna municipal office.
«It is essential for us to introduce the world to Ukrainian culture. Almost all festival participants are alumni of the legendary Odesa school named after Stolyarsky. We are thrilled that our collaboration with Vienna results in such a wonderful cultural event,» the mayor of Odesa remarked.
During the meeting, both parties also explored other collaborative efforts, particularly Vienna's extensive experience working with UNESCO, as the historic center of the city has been designated a World Heritage site since 2001.
«We are very pleased that our city has been chosen to host this conference and festival. We are ready to provide all necessary assistance in the organization,» Mr. Resh stated.
The Viennese side also proposed holding a joint round table to discuss the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the management of a large UNESCO site using Vienna as an example.
