On October 16, 2024, the Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, visited the UNESCO office in Paris for a working trip.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the management of the World Heritage site "Historic Center of Odesa." The joint efforts of Odesa and UNESCO will aid in preserving the city’s historical values and enhancing its cultural significance on the global stage.

On October 18, as part of his working visit, the Mayor of Odesa met with Austrian partners in Vienna. Odesa and Vienna have maintained fruitful partnerships for many years and are currently developing their cultural and heritage cooperation. 
Hennadiy Trukhanov noted that Vienna's experience in balancing heritage preservation with urban development is highly beneficial for Odesa, which is currently formulating practices for managing a World Heritage site amid the war.

The Mayor also expressed gratitude to Austria for hosting the Golden Violins of Odesa jubilee festival in Vienna. The festival continues to strengthen cultural ties between Odesa and Vienna, presenting the world with new musical talents and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Ukrainian city.

On October 21, a Summit of European City Mayors began in Strasbourg — a high-level political meeting between mayors of European cities and newly elected members of the European Parliament. 

Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov also participated in the event, where discussions took place regarding the future of the European Union, particularly the role of cities in its development, democracy, decentralization, environmental challenges, and social issues. 

Today, October 22, a meeting is scheduled between the mayors and parliamentarians at the residence of the European Parliament. 
At the conclusion of the meeting, a political declaration will be signed outlining the mayors' vision for the future of Europe and their role in strengthening cooperation with the European Parliament.
