MariLuise Beck, a German politician and director of the Center for Liberal Modernity, has been awarded the Honorary Recognition of the Mayor of Odesa «ODESA» for her significant contributions to humanitarian efforts and her support of local residents during the challenging times of war.
Under her initiative, the project for the memorial «Against Forgetting» was launched on Lustdorf Road, where in 1941, over 25,000 people, primarily of Jewish and Romani descent, were killed.
A grant of one million euros was secured for the realization of this project. However, due to the war, the works had to be postponed, and the funds were redirected to humanitarian needs of the city.
This allowed Odesa to receive essential assistance in the form of transport, special equipment, generators, medical supplies, and other critical resources.
The city authorities expressed gratitude for this support and hope for the implementation of pre-war projects and further cooperation for the development of Odesa.
