Investigators from the local police unit preliminarily established that a 53-year-old man, living near the station, was standing on the tracks and failed to respond to the train driver's signals. The driver applied emergency braking, but could not avoid hitting the man. He was hospitalized with his arm amputated.
Investigators from police department No. 2 of the Odessa district police department No. 1 have entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns violations of safety rules for railway transport that led to serious bodily injuries. All circumstances of the incident are being established. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa.
