Investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court against the offender. He faces up to eight years in prison for causing serious bodily harm.
This was reported by the police.
The incident occurred in September of last year in the Primorsky district of Odessa. During the pre-trial investigation, police established that a 67-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, having missed his train, sought shelter in a multi-story building that rents out apartments.
By mistakenly knocking on the door of a 31-year-old local resident, the elderly man attempted to enter. When the owner opened the door, a dispute arose over why the passerby was on private property.
The verbal conflict escalated into a physical altercation, during which the younger local resident assaulted the elderly visitor. The victim lost consciousness, and the attacker dragged him to the fence, where he struck him several more times before fleeing.
A bus station guard reported the injured man to the police. Medics hospitalized the victim with a traumatic brain injury, a skull fracture, a brain contusion, and multiple abrasions to the head. According to the forensic medical examination, these injuries are classified as serious and life-threatening. The assailant who inflicted the serious bodily harm was found and detained by police operatives early in the morning.

After gathering sufficient evidence of the criminal actions of the suspect, we charged him under part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning the intentional infliction of serious bodily harm that is dangerous for life at the time of infliction.
