The night turned fatal for an infant in a village of the Yas'kiv community.
This morning, a 43-year-old woman reported to the police the unexpected death of her nine-month-old daughter.
However, during the investigation, police discovered that the mother had inflicted bodily harm on the child due to emotional distress caused by the baby's crying.
Preliminary data indicates that the child's death resulted from asphyxiation. The exact cause will be determined by forensic examination.
The woman has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Authorities are considering charging her with the intentional murder of a minor. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 15 years or life in prison.
As part of the investigation initiated under paragraph 2 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code, several examinations have been scheduled. The investigation is ongoing, guided by the Biljaivsk District Prosecutor's Office.
