A military officer was arrested for soliciting an illegal benefit from a man wishing to enlist in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The suspect has been charged, and a court has chosen a preventive measure of detention.

Investigators discovered that the man seeking to enlist had approached a military officer for assistance, who demanded two thousand dollars to resolve the issue. He promised to influence the relevant authorities making the enlistment decisions.

After the money was handed over, law enforcement apprehended the suspect and seized the funds. A criminal case was opened under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a penalty of up to eight years in prison and confiscation of property.

The court has imposed a preventive measure of detention with the right to post bail amounting to 1.8 million UAH.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor's Office. Other individuals involved in the crime are being identified.
