The suspect has been charged. He faces up to 10 years in prison with the possibility of asset confiscation. Officers from the strategic investigations department in Odesa, in conjunction with investigators, uncovered and halted the criminal activities of the individual. According to the investigation, an officer responsible for recruitment at one of the regional centers colluded with unidentified individuals, demanding $10,000 in illicit benefits from representatives of a serviceman stationed in another region. In exchange for the money, he promised assistance in secretly transporting the serviceman from the military unit, ensuring unhindered passage around checkpoints, and delivering the serviceman to Odesa to evade further military service. Police conducted a series of investigative actions, resulting in the suspect being detained while receiving the agreed funds. He has now been charged under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For extortion and receiving illicit benefits, he faces up to ten years in prison and may be deprived of the right to hold certain positions for up to three years, along with asset confiscation. The choice of preventive measures for the suspect is currently being decided. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector. The full circle of individuals involved in this crime is being established.
