According to investigative findings, the suspects were attempting to export soybeans using forged documents that falsely claimed the product's origin through a network of shell companies.
The Odesa agritrader has reimbursed over 14.5 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes during an illegal export attempt. The press service of the Territorial Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa reported that suspects were trying to ship 7,500 tons of soybeans to Turkey and Romania. The investigation revealed that they used counterfeit documents to disguise their illegal activities. As a result, the company failed to pay a significant tax amount of 14.5 million hryvnias. During searches at the Odesa port and grain terminals in the Chernivtsi region, authorities seized over 6,000 tons of soybeans loaded onto a vessel, as well as 1,600 tons in railway cars. The total value of the seized goods exceeds 103 million hryvnias. It has been noted that the agritrader voluntarily reimbursed the unpaid taxes to the budget. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing to identify all individuals involved in this criminal activity.
Previously, it was reported that an Odesa court ordered a foreigner who counterfeited branded clothing to pay over half a million hryvnias in fines and compensation.
