Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska has successfully reached the third round of the Roland Garros - the French Open taking place in Paris for the second time in her career.
She started her campaign at Roland Garros against Australian competitor Destanee Aiava, who received a wild card. The first set was a battle, but ultimately, Dayana claimed victory with a score of 7:5, 6:1.
Yastremska's best performance at the French Open so far was reaching the third round last year.
In the 1/32 finals, the Odessa player triumphed over the world number 12, Russian Diana Shnaider, with a score of 7:5, 7:5. Yastremska managed to secure victory in two sets. The match lasted for 1 hour and 51 minutes. This was the second encounter between the players, and Dayana was able to avenge her previous loss and level the series.
In the next round, the Odessa player will face another Russian - Lyudmila Samsonova.
