Representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine visited the Greco-Roman wrestling club «GREK» in Odesa, which is part of a new project initiated by the ministry.
It should be noted that in February of this year, the Odesa Regional State Administration signed an important memorandum with the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding cooperation under the «Experiment» project. The aim is to support clubs established by public organizations, enhancing the sports infrastructure of the region.
This experiment allows for the development of a new mechanism for transitioning to a club-based system for organizing physical culture and sports activities, emphasizing the role of clubs with public organization status.
The meeting included:
- Anton Shalyhaiylo – Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration
- Tetyana Semenyk – Deputy Director of the Mass Sports Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports
- Viktor Synyavskyi – Acting Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Odesa Regional Administration
- Oleksandr Hraban – Head of the «GREK» Public Organization
Currently, the club employs four coaches and serves over 160 athletes. Training sessions are held in Odesa, Chornomorsk, Podilsk, and the village of Hradenytsi.
During the visit, participants learned about the club's activities, interacted with coaches and athletes, and observed the training process.
This experiment is funded by the Odesa regional budget.
«We are confidently moving forward in developing sports in the Odesa region. The implementation of this project opens new opportunities for youth, promotes physical improvement, and fosters a healthy nation. Investing in sports infrastructure is an investment in the future of our children and families,» noted Anton Shalyhaiylo.
The Odesa region continues to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the sports potential of the area and strengthening the club system in Ukrainian sports.
