Adaptive sports play a crucial role in helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life, promoting both physical and psychological socialization.
In the Peresyp district of Odesa, the first pickleball training session for veterans and their spouses was held. Representatives from the Odesa City Council's Department of Veteran Affairs also participated in the event.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis and badminton and is known for its high inclusivity. This sport is open to individuals of all physical fitness levels.
The training was conducted by veteran Mykhailo Zimin, who initiated the inclusion of pickleball in rehabilitation activities.
“We continue to support initiatives aimed at developing veteran policies in close cooperation with the community and the veterans themselves,” noted Volodymyr Yermakov, the director of the Department of Veteran Affairs.
