Having trouble understanding how to interact with individuals who have combat experience?

Get helpful tips that will enable you to communicate respectfully through an interactive simulator created for the educational series «Veterans and Their Experience. Dignity. Communication».

For example:

* at night, you wake up to find your partner, who returned from the frontlines, suddenly pushing you. They also woke up, but do not realize they are home and continue to «fight» as if still in a dream. What should you do next?

* at work, a veteran colleague begins joking about serious topics like death and trauma. How do you respond?

The simulator will present several action options and provide explanations from an expert, helping you understand how your behavior may affect your interaction with a veteran.

Remember, each person's experience is unique and requires an individualized approach. If you're unsure how to act appropriately, be sincere, tolerant, and don’t hesitate to ask questions.

For more information on how to communicate correctly with veterans, check out the educational series «Veterans and Their Experience. Dignity. Communication», available on the Diia.Education platform and the YouTube channel «How Are You?»

This educational series was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Transformation as part of the communication campaign «How Are You?» of the National Mental Health Program, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska. The project continues the section «Guide to Barrier-Free Communication» and is implemented with the support of the Mental Health Coordination Center of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the NGO «Barrier-Free», and Visa, a participant in the «Business Without Barriers» community.
