Law enforcement agencies are actively educating children about safety rules in schools, public places, and the virtual world. Topics include bullying prevention, cyber threats, mine safety, harmful habits, and the involvement of children in criminal activities.

Recently, representatives from the National Police and Emergency Services visited the Konoplyanska community in the Bereziv district, where they conducted safety classes for students.

The officers discussed road safety with the children, reminding them of pedestrian traffic rules, including the necessity to be cautious near roads and to use crosswalks. In the dark, they should use reflective elements to allow drivers to see pedestrians in advance.

They also raised the topic of mine safety, familiarizing the children with various explosive devices and the rules of behavior in case of their discovery. The children watched a themed video and learned that dangerous objects can be both obvious and hidden in everyday items. Upon discovering such items, they should not touch them but instead report to adults, specifically to Emergency Services at 101 and the police at 102.

«The students actively participated in the quizzes we prepared for them. It was pleasant to see how engaged and knowledgeable they were, providing correct answers and having an understanding of how to behave in different life situations,» noted Natalia Ship, inspector of juvenile prevention at the Bereziv district police department.

In the Fountains, South, Velikodalnytska, and Vygodianska communities of the Odesa district, juvenile police officers held lessons on digital and legal literacy in lyceums.

«We emphasized the importance of using official resources to verify information and avoiding dubious websites that promote violence. One must be more careful on social media, as they request access to personal information. It's also important to be cautious with strangers and to avoid overly close interactions with them. If they receive suspicious offers, especially regarding «easy» money, they should immediately inform their parents and the police, making screenshots of the conversation and noting the identifying nickname,» added Yulia Isaieva, senior inspector of juvenile prevention of the Odesa district police department No. 2.

The police also reminded teenagers that individuals who are 16 years old and above are subject to administrative and criminal liability. For specific categories of crimes, liability begins at 14 years old. Younger offenders are not overlooked either, and corrective measures are applied to them.

Such preventive measures are carried out in all districts of Odesa region.
