Recently, a fascinating event about forensics was held for students at a local gymnasium, organized by specialists from the Odesa District Police Department, Captain Maksym Pasichnyi and Senior Lieutenant Yuliia Sokerchak.
The officers shared with the students various modern techniques for collecting and analyzing evidence, which are crucial for solving crimes. Special emphasis was put on identifying traces that criminals leave at the crime scenes. The forensic experts also showcased their kits, explaining how to properly take fingerprints.
«Each student had the chance to play the role of a forensic specialist, conducting fingerprinting on a classmate. They quickly understood that quality evidence collection is key to solving crimes, so they approached their tasks seriously», said Captain Maksym Pasichnyi.
Many students were intrigued by the officers’ personal experiences, leading to discussions about real cases that illustrated the importance of prompt and efficient forensic work in serious crime investigations. The police also presented a video showing the work of a forensic expert involved in high-profile investigations, including assessments of missile strike sites.
As graduation approaches, students face the tough choice of career paths, so at the end of the meeting, the police discussed the specifics of studying at universities within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which prepare police officers for service.
«I believe such meetings help young people consciously choose their future profession, and I would be pleased if some of the gymnasium students decide to join the National Police of Ukraine», concluded Senior Lieutenant Yuliia Sokerchak.
