The attack on the Odesa region occurred on the night of June 25. Enemy drones deliberately targeted civilian infrastructures unrelated to military defense. As a result of this assault, warehouses of a private business and agricultural equipment were damaged.
The Izmail District Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case related to the nighttime shelling, classifying it as a war crime.
"Under the procedural guidance of the Izmail District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation into the commission of war crimes has been initiated," the regional prosecutor's office reported.
Investigative teams are working on-site to document all damages and gather evidence. This is not the first instance where Russian forces have targeted civilian infrastructure in the border areas of Odesa, aiming to intimidate residents and disrupt the local economy.
"Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document the war crimes committed by the Russian military," they added.
It is worth noting that at the time of the strike, an air alert was declared in the Odesa region. Oleg Kiper, the head of the OVA, warned about the danger to the Izmail district.
"Izmail district, please stay in shelters!", he wrote on Telegram.
