A tragic event unfolded today in Odesa as Russia launched a missile strike on the port. The attack has resulted in civilian casualties.
This was confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba via Telegram.
The missile, identified as «Iskander», struck a dock at Odesa Sea Port where unloading operations were taking place on a foreign vessel.
Two individuals lost their lives, including a dock worker and a truck driver. Our condolences go out to the families of the deceased.
Six others were injured, including port workers and crew members from Syria. Medical assistance is being provided to all affected individuals.
Infrastructure has also been damaged, including portal cranes and storage facilities.
For four consecutive years, Russia has targeted our ports, deliberately destroying the infrastructure that connects Ukraine to the world. This attack is yet another indication of their intent to dismantle our transportation capabilities and endanger civilian lives.
