On October 23, Ukraine received the remains of 1000 individuals, which, according to Russian sources, belong to Ukrainian soldiers. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs' investigators will conduct necessary examinations to identify the repatriated remains in the near future.
The repatriation process was carried out by the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center of the Security Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, and other security and defense sector institutions.
The Coordination Headquarters also expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance in this matter.
The Armed Forces are responsible for transporting the repatriated remains to specialized state institutions and for transferring the deceased to law enforcement and forensic experts within the Ministry of Health system.
