According to NEC "UKRENERGO", as temperatures drop, electricity consumption increases. The energy system is still recovering from massive enemy attacks.
The higher the power of a device, the more electricity it consumes. Meanwhile, devices with better energy efficiency ratings use less energy. Be mindful of the appliances you purchase or turn on. This will help save money and reduce the strain on the energy system.
Smart energy savings can prevent overloads in the system and potential emergencies.
Energy experts' tips for economical electricity consumption:
- unplug devices when not in use (chargers, TVs in standby mode, etc.). Even in "sleep mode," household devices consume a significant amount of electricity;
- boil only the necessary amount of water — this saves time and money, and reduces the kilowatts needed from the energy system;
- run washing and dishwashing machines only when fully loaded, preferably at night — after the evening peak. Choose programs with lower washing temperatures;
- use energy-efficient bulbs and avoid leaving lights on in unoccupied rooms;
- charge smartphones, laptops, power banks, etc., at night when consumption is at its lowest.
Energy experts also remind us not to turn on several high-power devices simultaneously during peak consumption hours: in the morning — from 07:00 to 11:00 and in the evening — from 16:00 to 22:00.
