In the early stages, cancer can be treatable: timely diagnosis of oncological diseases allows for early detection, increasing the chances of successful treatment. The medical guarantee program offers the opportunity to undergo necessary preventive examinations free of charge, regardless of your place of residence. This was reported by the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).

Early diagnosis of the most common cancers is a priority, including free examination services under six main packages:

  • mammography – X-ray examination of breast tissue to detect abnormalities;
  • hysteroscopy – examination of the uterus and cervical canal to detect internal pathologies early;
  • esophagogastroduodenoscopy – examination of the esophagus and stomach to detect inflammatory processes;
  • colonoscopy – examination of the colon to identify anomalies;
  • cystoscopy – examination of the bladder to find possible tumors;
  • bronchoscopy – examination of the airways to detect mucosal diseases.

Residents of Kyiv, including internally displaced persons, can access early diagnosis services at any healthcare facility with contracts with the NHSU. A family or treating doctor issues an electronic referral.

Eligibility for preventive diagnostic studies is based on reaching a certain age. For mammography and colonoscopy, it is 40 years, while for other procedures, it is 50 years.

Internally displaced persons have access to all service packages, which include anesthesia, consultations, and the option to receive examination results on film or digital media.
